Take Up Your Cross
I have been giving some thought to Jesus’ words lately, specifically the ones that say “take up your cross and follow me”. As many of His words go, they can have a peripheral meaning, the one that the majority of us have accepted - usually the one that doesn’t cost much. In this case I think that modern Christianity has taken these words to mean that we should live pure lives in a way that glorifies God and in doing this, be willing to pay a price. Yes, to a certain extent I think this is correct. Yet upon giving this some deeper thought I have to wonder if there isn’t another meaning, maybe the true intended meaning.
